Client hostname determination (direct printer assignment)
If the direct printers are automatically assigned by Printer assignment database module, the hostname of the workstation from which printing was performed can be determined in the following ways:

Some printer drivers can write the PC name to the print data stream (similar to IPADDRESS <172.16.6.235> (Kyocera driver) or HOSTID="PC4578" (Lexmark driver)). Not all printer drivers can do this. Before using the printer driver, check whether a corresponding entry can be found in the data stream (enter the device in the allocation table as it appears in the data stream, in the example IPADDRESS <172.16.6.235> use the IP address 172.16.6.235. Alternatively, the client hostname can also be determined by IQ4docs Messenger - in this case enter the hostname (not the IP address).

IQ4docs Messenger can pass the name of the workstation computer into which a IQ4docs user is logged in to IQ4docs (this happens when logging on to the computer or when Messenger is started). For this to take place, IQ4docs Messenger must be running on the workstation computer.
The name transfer also works for thin clients (Thin-Client Hardware Detection).
